Absolutely. Our Foundation plan is free with no credit card required. You can create, edit, and track QR codes straight away. If you need more codes, higher scan volumes, or extra features, you can upgrade to a paid plan at any time.
A dynamic QR code stores a short internal reference rather than the destination itself. This means you can change where it points - the website, document, or contact details it links to - at any time, without changing the printed code. You can also track how many times it has been scanned and when.
A static QR code encodes its destination permanently. Once printed, you cannot change where it points, and there is no scan tracking. A dynamic QR code stores only a short reference ID in the code itself, and the destination is looked up in real time on each scan. This means you can update the destination, run analytics, and manage everything from your dashboard - all without reprinting.
No. Everything runs in your browser. There is nothing to download or install to create, manage, or track your QR codes. The people scanning your codes just need a standard smartphone camera or any QR reader app - no special software required on their end either.
None at all. If you can fill in a form and click a button, you can create a QR code. We handle everything behind the scenes. For more advanced needs - such as API integration or custom workflows - our consultancy team is happy to help.
Any modern smartphone with a camera can scan our QR codes. iPhones (iOS 11 and above) and Android phones both have built-in QR scanning in the native camera app. The codes also work with dedicated QR reader apps. There is no special format or proprietary technology - they are standard QR codes.
We support a wide range of QR code types including: website links, contact cards (vCard), Wi-Fi network credentials, file and document links, email addresses, phone numbers, and SMS messages. Each type has a dedicated template so you know exactly what information to enter.
When creating a new QR code, simply choose the type that matches your use case - for example, "Wi-Fi" or "Contact Card". A tailored form then prompts you for exactly the information needed. For Wi-Fi, that means the network name, password, and security type. For a contact card, it means name, phone, email, and so on.
Yes. You can change the foreground and background colours, adjust the style of the code pattern, and add your own logo in the centre. Customisation options vary by plan - higher tiers unlock more design flexibility.
Yes. You can upload a logo image to be embedded in the centre of your QR code. The code is generated with a higher error-correction level to keep it scannable even with a logo covering part of it. We recommend testing the finished code before going to print.
QR codes can be downloaded as PNG image files, suitable for use in print materials, presentations, email signatures, and websites. If you need a different format for a specific print workflow, contact us and we will do our best to help.
Yes - this is one of the core benefits of dynamic QR codes. You can update the destination, the code name, or any other editable details at any time from your dashboard. The printed QR code image stays exactly the same, so you never need to reprint.
Your QR code works as soon as it is created. There is no approval process or waiting period. If your account has an active subscription (or you are on the free plan with codes within your allowance), the redirect is live immediately.
The free Foundation plan lets you create dynamic QR codes, edit their destinations, and view basic scan analytics - all at no cost and with no credit card required. It is designed to give you a full feel for the platform. When you need more codes, richer reporting, or advanced customisation, you can upgrade at any time.
A Lifetime QR Code is a one-time purchase that gives you a fully editable dynamic QR code with no expiry date and no ongoing fees. You pay once and the code remains active and redirectable indefinitely. It is ideal for permanent print materials such as signage, packaging, or business stationery where you want to avoid a recurring subscription.
Campaign packs are one-off QR code allocations designed for time-limited activities such as events, promotions, or seasonal marketing. Campaign codes are separate from your regular account allowance, so they do not use up your normal quota. You set a start and end date for the campaign, assign QR codes to it, and purchase when you are ready to activate.
Yes. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time through the dashboard, or by getting in touch with us at support @ DynamicQRCodes.co.uk. Changes take effect at the start of your next billing period.
If you cancel a paid subscription, your account moves to the free Foundation plan. QR codes that fall within the free plan's allowance remain active. Any codes that exceed the free allowance will be paused until your quota allows for them - they are not deleted, so you can reactivate them by upgrading again at any time.
Yes. Subscription plans can be billed monthly or annually. Choosing annual billing saves you around 17% compared to paying month by month. You can switch between billing periods when renewing.
We consider requests from registered charities, educational institutions, and non-profit organisations on a case-by-case basis. Please get in touch at support @ DynamicQRCodes.co.uk with a brief description of your organisation and intended use and we will see what we can do.
When a phone scans the code, it reads a short internal reference ID and sends a request to our servers. We look up the current destination for that code and immediately redirect the user there - typically in a fraction of a second. The person scanning just sees the destination page open in their browser.
No. The printed QR code image never changes. The code encodes only a short reference ID, not the destination itself. When you update the destination in your dashboard, all future scans of the same printed code will go to the new destination automatically - no reprinting needed.
Paid subscription plans include unlimited scans. The free Foundation plan has a monthly scan allowance - details are shown on the pricing page. Campaign codes and Lifetime codes also include unlimited scans within their respective terms.
The person scanning the code needs an internet connection for the redirect to work - because the phone has to reach our servers to look up the destination. This is true of all dynamic QR codes, regardless of provider. If you need a code that works fully offline and never needs updating, a static QR code would be more appropriate.
For each scan we record the date and time, the approximate location (country and region, derived from the IP address), and the device type. This gives you a clear picture of when and where your QR codes are being used, without collecting personally identifiable information about the people scanning them.
Scan data is recorded in real time and appears in your dashboard within moments of each scan. There is no delay or batch processing - you can watch activity come in live if you are running an event or promotion.
No personal data is collected from people who scan your codes. We record an anonymised location (country and region level) and device type. We do not store IP addresses in identifiable form, and we do not track individuals across scans. Our data handling is governed by UK data protection law. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
We accept all major credit and debit cards. For larger corporate clients we can also arrange invoiced payments - all we need is a valid Purchase Order number. Please contact us at support @ DynamicQRCodes.co.uk to set this up.
Prices shown on the website are exclusive of VAT unless otherwise stated. VAT and any other applicable local taxes are calculated and added at checkout. A VAT receipt is available for all transactions.
No. Monthly plans are billed one month at a time with no lock-in. You can cancel at any time and you will not be charged again after the current period ends. Annual plans are paid upfront for twelve months.
Yes. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your plan at any time via the dashboard, or by contacting us at support @ DynamicQRCodes.co.uk.
Yes. A VAT invoice is generated automatically for every payment and is available from your account dashboard. If you need a copy resent or require a specific format for your accounts team, contact us and we will sort it out.
Yes. We provide a developer API that allows you to create and manage QR codes programmatically - useful for integrating QR code generation into your own systems, workflows, or applications. Contact us at support @ DynamicQRCodes.co.uk to discuss API access and documentation.
Yes. We generate standard QR codes that comply with the ISO/IEC 18004 specification, which means they work with any compliant QR reader - including the built-in camera apps on iPhone and Android, and all third-party QR reader apps. We do not use any proprietary format.
